Catering to a Client’s Interest Is What It Is All About
Recently I completed a website for a delightful and insightful client who offers a tasty and beautiful catering service in Cary. Just down the street from where I used to work at SAS.
It was an interesting assignment because somehow their site was hacked by what appeared to be some terrorist group. They were unable to get any text or pictures or a backup of the files from their previous web master so I was contacted. I was able to see through some of the unusual script on their pages and pull out pictures from the site.
To build their new site I selected a theme named Avada which is one of the most popular and versatile WordPress themes available. I met with the client here at my computer so she could take a look at different ideas for logo design and backgrounds for the header. We settled on use of a granite background and a font named Billion Stars. You can see a sample of this idea above. The black swirled text looked sharp and sophisticated on the crisp background. The slider of food images stood out boldly because of the shadow beneath.
A few weeks later I received more content from her as well as a comment. The client felt that the granite background caused the the site to feel cold, and she asked if we could try something softer and more romantic. She had seen my craft creations on my fernsandfancy website. And suggested that I try to use picture of one of my marbled scarves as a backdrop for the logo.
So for my second logo I created a background from mirrored images of a silk scarf I refer to as rose petals. Then I slipped it into a background surround color of pale pink at the sides, and a simple gold at the top. As a result, the site has a much warmer personal look.
I’d love to hear your reactions and find out which header image you prefer and why! Beauty and taste are in the eyes of the beholder!
And here is a link to the actual site! You just might want to bookmark this in case you or yours want to partake of this terrific service.
