Video Art Samples
On this page I share a variety of video pieces that I shot and edited myself. The first group of videos promote the art work and process of local artists. The second group presents work displayed and showcased in galleries. There is a video exploring a Special Site and Services. This is followed by a series of slide shows in video format that demonstrate different style effects for transitions between still photography of art. At the end are my Nature Studies, short “tone poems” about the natural surrounds in my woodland property and when I travel.

Art Work and Processes
In this video, the viewer catches glimpses of various handwrought jewelry created by the silver & goldsmith jeweler, Claudia Hug, who wanted to showcase her work in a subtle story. The pieces are worn by a young lady who glides through scenes while reflecting on her memories. See this website for more about Claudia’s fine jewelry.
Here is a video I made when Ed Ralston went with me to Penland and took a Japanese Handtool Woodworking class…
Goats Graze was shot while Emily Weinstein painted en plein air while goats grazed on her property. Goats are cute and her garden is lovely.
Emily and the Buds is a very short impressionistic piece that eavesdrops on Emily Weinstein as she describes how a series of work she created this spring was inspired by the season! See Emily’s website for a wide range of her artwork.
This very short piece showing the process used by Elaine O’Neil was actually shot with an iPhone. She wanted it short and sweet without any narration!
Metaphorically Speaking introduces you to Judith Ernst’s background, provides a demo of her extraordinary pottery, and her philosophy about its creation. This was shot using an exceptionally high quality video camera and has three different scenes. This is much longer than most videos created recently. View this video to better understand her most exceptional work. See Judith’s website for a variety of images and stories.
This next piece was shot and edited by me a few years back and shares with you Shelly’s viewpoint and process. See her website for more recent examples of her techniques and work!
Galleries and Showcases
Here’s a video that shows you what my studio gallery has on display. I am thrilled to have this space to showcase my work…
Needlepointillism documents a show by Ralph Wileman at the Horace Williams house and provides close ups of his fine art needlepoint works. No commentary, just a straightforward framing and zoom to see each detail of each piece hung at this special event held the summer of 2012. See Ralph’s website for more background.
Slide Shows in Video Format — Different Style Effects
Marbled is Magic shows you samples of shawls I have made by “hydro-printing”. The music I picked sounds ethereal to be, and that is the phrase that feels right to me.
Year of Magical Thinking uses various editing effects to zoom in, zoom out, tilt, and pan to reveal various elements of Susan’s handmade paper. This was editing by me using professional software.
Creekside Paintings by Barbi Dalton uses a waterbrush type digital effect to compliment her lovely watercolor work depicting various scenes along the creek that surrounds her house for 180 degrees. See Barbi’s website for many examples of her work.
Marbelized Motions is a short video showing samples of marblelized silk I made while at Penland School of Crafts.
Introduction to Special Sites and Services
This video provides you with an overview of the services and the lovely settings for each of Belinda’s offerings at Clearwater Lake Retreat. This was actually shot with an iPhone!
Winter Observations was shot by me along the creek at the back of my house during the winter. It was my first so-called tone poem.
Waterfall Musings is a short piece that includes shots of paths to my studio as well as the various rock gardens my partner and I have lovingly built around our home.
Oak Island proudly displays the various flora found along the coast of Oak Island in North Carolina. This was shot with a prosumer camera but edited with professional editing software.
Stroll in Spring is a very brief musical slide show that uses effects to dissolve through shots of flowers in my garden. This is produced quickly by using an application that is inexpensive and versatile.
